What the DASH Diet Is and Why Doctors Call It One of the Best Diets for Our Health

In the list of the world’s best diets, there is the DASH diet that has been the best for a number of years. Doctors say that it’s the most effective diet that can strengthen one’s health. According to the doctors of the National Institutes of Health, the DASH diet scores 3.3 points out of 5 in the “Weight Loss Effectiveness” category and 4.5 points out of 5 in the “Health Usefulness” category.

What is the DASH diet?

DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) is a diet developed specially for blood pressure reduction when a person experiences hypertension.

But later, scientists understood that this diet resolves many other important problems: cholesterol level reduction, stroke and heart failure prevention, and weight normalization. What is more, this diet is the best diet to prevent diabetes.

What’s the concept of the DASH diet?

 

 

All of the necessary components (calcium, proteins, vegetable fiber) that are responsible for the functioning of the brain and the internal organs, as well as hair and skin health, are balanced in this diet.

It’s also convenient because you don’t have to calculate and monitor each component: you just need to eat certain recommended products (fruit, vegetables, grain products, protein-containing foods, and dairy products) and reduce the quantity of salt in dishes.

The main feature of the DASH diet in comparison with other diets is that it was developed for people who have to take care of their diet throughout their lives. That’s why you don’t need to put up with hunger: you can afford various and tasty dishes. You just need to keep in mind several basic rules.

Basic rules:

It’s not about the quantity of the food as much as it is about its quality. Here are some main principles you should follow:

  • Drink 2 liters (67 fl oz) of fluid per day.
  • Eat 5 times per day. One serving’s weight should be no more than 215 g (8.80 oz).
  • Daily calorie intake: around 2,000-2,500 kcal.
  • Sweets: no more than 5 times a week.
  • Try to eat more cereals, seeds, beans, lean meat, and vegetables.
  • You should avoid drinking soda or alcohol.
  • You can have no more than 8 snacks per day (in addition to basic meals.) But have a bite only if you’re really hungry.
  • Alcohol and tobacco are prohibited.
  • Reduce salt and consume up to 2-3 tsp per day.
  • Your diet should include whole wheat bread.
  • Exclude smoked or fatty foods, pickles, pastry, canned fish, and meat.

 

 

What you can eat:

According to the DASH diet, to form a proper diet you should mind your goals: whether you want to lose weight or to become healthier. If you want to lose some weight, your menu should contain fewer calories. In other words, you need to reduce the servings.

Your daily diet may contain the following products:

 

  • Cereals: no less than 7 servings per day (one serving = a loaf of bread, 1/2 cup of cooked pasta, 1/2 cup of porridge.)
  • Fruit: not more than 5 servings per day (one serving = 1 fruit, 1/4 cup of dried fruit, 1/2 cup of juice.)
  • Vegetables: 5 servings per day (one serving = 1/2 cup of boiled vegetables.)
  • Non-fat dairy products: 2-3 servings per day (one serving = 50 g (1.80 oz) of cheese or 0.15 liters (5 fl oz) of milk.)
  • Seeds, beans, nuts: 5 servings a week (one serving = 40 g (1.40 oz.)
  • Animal and vegetable fats: 3 servings per day (one serving = 1 tsp of olive or linseed oil.)
  • Sweet dishes: no more than 5 times a week (one tsp of honey or jam.)
  • Fluids: 2 liters (67 fl oz) per day (water, green tea, juice.)
  • Protein: 0.2 kg (7 oz) of lean meat or fish, eggs.

What to avoid:

Of course, we have to avoid all of the typical “unhealthy” products.

You can eliminate harmful products step-by-step and finally, the urge to eat forbidden foods will disappear.

 

 

How to plan your diet:

You can create your own menu by taking into consideration the diet’s rules and the products that you’re allowed to eat.

You don’t have to do anything special to create your diet: you just need to include necessary products and exclude the “bad” ones gradually. If your goal is to lose weight, cut the amount of recommended servings.

You can also find various tasty dishes that are appropriate for the DASH diet on the Internet.

The DASH diet is an easy, safe, and useful diet that can help you feel better and get rid of excess weight.

Recommended for: Urological disorders, pelvic disorders, menstrual cramps, insomnia, and improving a woman’s general health.

How to locate: It is located 4 finger widths above your ankle (measured from the highest point in your ankle) in the trough behind the bone.

How to apply: Apply firm pressure to this point on the inside of your legs, and massage the area for 4–5 seconds.

CAUTION: It should not be used during pregnancy as it may induce labor.

4. Zhong Zhu

Recommended for: Temporal headaches, shoulder pain, neck tension, and upper back pain.

How to locate: This point is located behind your knuckles in the groove formed by the tendons of your ring finger and little finger.

How to apply: Apply firm pressure to the depression, and massage the area for 4–5 seconds.

 

 

5. Zu San Li

Recommended for: Gastrointestinal problems, vomiting, nausea, stress, and fatigue.

Traditional Chinese literature also recommends it for better health and longevity.

How to locate: It is located on the outward-facing side of your leg in the depression about 4 finger widths below the bottom of your kneecap.

How to apply: Apply downward pressure on the muscle area for about 4–5 seconds.

6. Nei Guan

Recommended for: Curing nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, upset stomach, motion sickness, carpal tunnel syndrome, and headaches.

How to locate: It is located in the depression between the tendons 4 finger widths below your wrist.

How to apply: Massage between the 2 tendons while applying gentle pressure for 4–5 seconds.

 

7. Shou San Li

Recommended for: Neck stiffness, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, and diarrhea.

How to locate: It is located on the outer surface of the forearm 3 finger widths below the elbow crease when the elbow is bent 90°.

How to apply: Apply firm pressure to massage and stimulate the area for 4–5 seconds.

8. He Gu

Recommended for: Headaches, neck pain, stress, facial pain, and toothaches.

How to locate: It is located between the web of your thumb and index finger.

How to apply: Apply deep pressure to massage and stimulate the area for 4–5 seconds.

CAUTION: It may induce labor and so must never be used during pregnancy.

 

 

9. Tai Chong

Recommended for: Stress, lower back pain, high blood pressure, menstrual cramps, limb pain, insomnia, and post-stroke depression.

Traditional Chinese texts also recommend it for digestive issues, eye problems, genital pain, headaches, canker sores, and irritability.

How to locate: Tai Chong is located on your foot about 2 finger widths above the place where your index toe and big toe join.

How to apply: Apply deep, firm pressure to massage and stimulate the area for 2–3 seconds.

10. Yin Tang

Recommended for: Relieving stress, eye strain, headaches, treating nasal and sinus congestions, curing insomnia, and increasing the effectiveness of the brain.

How to locate: It is located on your forehead between your eyebrows.

How to apply: Gently press this point using your fingers for about a minute, and then release. You can repeat it a couple of times a week.

 

 

11. Lao Gong

Recommended for: Mouth ulcers, mild fever, anxiety.

How to locate: It is located where the tip of your ring finger lands in the palm of your hand when you make a fist.

How to apply: Apply firm pressure to massage and stimulate the area for 2–3 seconds. Repeat 2–3 times a day.

12. Qi Hai Shu

Recommended for: Lower back pain, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, and asthma.

How to locate: It can be found 2 finger widths (1.5 cun) above the upper end of your hip. For a better understanding, refer to the photograph above.

How to apply: Using your thumbs to apply pressure, massage both sides of the spine for 4–5 seconds. Repeat daily.

約在15世紀出版,標示著許多不詳圖示與奇妙咒文的魔法天書「伏尼契手稿」,被語言學者譽為「史上最大的難題」,詭異的幾何圖形搭配艱澀難懂的泥鰍文,至今無人能瞭解其意思。

幾百年以來甚至有著「騙局陰謀論」這樣的說法,推論是當初中世紀學者,利用精美的學圖與精妙的文字,來誆騙神聖羅馬帝國皇帝魯道夫二世的裝逼聖物。

但近期人類對這本天書的研究卻有驚人的進展,學者透過語言學邏輯與深度學習的方式,讓AI自行成長分析出伏尼契手稿的各種奧秘,居然發現這東西可不是亂寫的玩意兒,是真的能讀的書!

什麼!所以裡面到底寫了甚麼呢?

根據AI深度學習翻出來的書中第一句內容,大概就是「她向牧師、家人、我、人民提出建議」這個意思。聽起來好像沒甚麼,那為什麼一直以來的煉金術師與學者都翻不出來這部分的內容呢?原因就在於,AI最終判斷這句話竟是用「失傳的上帝語言」-希伯來語而寫成。

在經歷過許多古代煉金術師與皇帝的輾轉經手後,書最後傳到了19世紀的波蘭書商伏尼契手上,由此而命名的神祕天書,誰知道在今日居然有了新解。

「這個翻譯的結果是非常奇怪的,但對於這個手稿來說,這肯定是相當具有意義的。」計算機語言學者Greg Kondrak 如此說著。

當然還有著很多困難的工作還要持續,研究人員還在尋找著精通希伯來文的人,希望能加速他們破解天書的速度。

關於佔中,我要立即做一個最新蕭析給大家講。第一,這是一個膽小鬼駕車對撞遊戲,最後­一刻,習近平扭了軚。這是為何現在這樣發生了。習近平不准用這麼暴力的方法去鎮壓,不­敢叫廣東的武警到香港,不准使用解放軍。這是永遠不知的事,就是到最後一刻,習近平覺­得不值得這樣跟你搏命。所以才有今日的情況。

第二,在暴力清公民廣場和射催淚彈方面,香港政府在輿論上輸了。這是我一向和大家講非­暴力是如此重要的原因。等於兩個人互罵,誰一出手打人,他就輸了。這也是為何不能夾雜­反蝗的原因,這就是要純粹講民主。現在海外全部人都知道,海外的輿論都支持你,但你一­講那些思想,就會失去那些支持。現在一定堅守這東西,不要敵視警察。如果有人用東西掟­警察,就要立即制止。現在最怕的是有人滲入加以搗亂。

這兩晚我都有下去看看現場情況,而蕭遙遙是花木蘭,代父從征,在祟光坐到今早十一點才­回來。我今晚做完節目可能會去力寶或者祟光,我在找尋被捕的機會,但是特區政府轉了軚­,不作拘捕,連戴耀廷都沒有拘捕,只是拘捕直接衝擊的人,而衝擊非我所長。這件事的教­訓,事前永遠都不知,也不用擔心太多,因為運動有其生命,到時也未必會及你的想像。到­時打散了彌敦道又再去觀塘、荃灣集結,那又怎麼算呢?警察已昨晚集中了所有兵力,今日­已經回家睡覺,他們已做了廿多小時﹐他們也支持不住了。大家都支持不住。這情況下,股­票跌了不少,但因為催淚彈的影像太深刻,大家都覺得不能怪學生。而且很多地方都繼續罷­課。

我希望大家記住,我在這裏講的幾個教訓。大家要用韌力,千萬不要有任何暴力行為。盡量­向親戚朋友解釋我們是迫不得已才這樣做,爭取輿論的同情。如果近距對峙的話,也告訴警­察為何我們要怎麼做。
